The Future Is Bright

welcome to Sundae Matinee, a sprinkling of sweet stuff

Well... I *do* dream - dreams that you would *never* guess. -Dr. Paul Carruthers

As I approach my first ninety days since enacting The Grand Fantastical Escape, I have been doing much contemplation about what I have accomplished thus far. In a mere three months, I am extremely proud that I took this leap and the accomplishments I have made:

  • MovieJawn is growing… we went from two retailers to nine and I have started to foster partnerships with local cinemas

  • With the help of my pal Hunter Bush, we have created a TV studio which will go into production soon.

  • I am writing up a storm and feel my voice is getting stronger

  • In September, I’ll be attending and covering two film festivals

  • Most importantly, for the first time in a long time I am happy

Prior to the escape, I was concerned that I would do nothing. Oh how silly I was. Instead, I find that I have never been working harder before in my life. I am loving every moment of this journey and feel alive! My future looks brighter than ever before.

This week I picked up my business cards and, for the first time in my life, this is a business card that I actually want.

Designed by my film pal and MovieJawn Art Director, Hugo Marmugi, I believe these are the perfect calling card and are sure to be the ticket to cinematic success.

On Tuesday, I will be headed to cousin Deedee’s to complete the cape construction. I will most definitely need a pocket for my business cards.

This week I am proud of… starting a YouTube channel for MovieJawn.

Hunter and I made our first clip in the Cinematic Crypt Hotel & Lounge studio last week in effort to promote the triumphant return of MovieJawn’s patreon podcast, Intermission. Check out the video below and subscribe to our channel here.

The Intermission podcast is a thirty minute movie game show that is sure to be a cinephile favorite! Listen for yourself by supporting MovieJawn’s patreon at any tier. Tiers start at $3; find more information here.

This week I recommend… checking out the book The Creative Act: A Way of Being by Rick Rubin.

From the first chapter, I knew I was meant to read this. I truly believe that all of us are creators. None of us are special. We all have the ability and power to be creative. I still have a ways to go with completing this read and am taking my time… savoring it. I recommend that if you feel a bit stalled with your creative endeavors, pick up a copy. It is sure to reinvigorate you, and possibly even inspire you to find your way back.

Find an indie bookstore here to order the book.

Happy you are here. xx. goodbye.
