Pinocchio, Premonitions & Pasta

welcome to Sundae Matinee, a sprinkling of sweet stuff

Greetings! From me and my new pal, Pinocchio.

Last weekend my partner in crime Benjamin and I took an adventure to Honesdale, Pennsylvania to attend my dear friend, Suze’s - more about her below - fangtastic art show. During our escapade up north, Suze and her husband took us to a charming town: Narrowsburg, New York. It is here where I met the darling pencil about town Pinocchio and my life was forever changed.

Pinocchio Pencil hails from Italy and was procured from a quaint Narrowsburg store Tinker & Nidge. When this small creature graced my fingertips it was as if I was struck by a bolt of lightning… I had a premonition! I foresaw that together he and I would do many GRAND things and that my entire personality would be altered. It is hard to explain the transformation I am going through, but know this dear readers, much absurdity is in store for both your and my future.

What exactly are Pinocchio’s plans? Well… to the surprise of I am sure no one, Pinocchio is of corpse a fan of THE CINEMA. As a cinephile, he has the desire to join the MovieJawn fold by sharing reviews via a video format. He does have quite the face for television and has a striking look when captured on camera. Pinocchio also hopes to provide pasta pontifications. As a renowned pastafarian and provocateuer he has much noodle wisdom to share. Stay tuned for Pinocchio’s Provocative Picture & Pasta Picks soon. In the meantime, I highly recommend checking out this little corner of the internet I found while researching Pinocchio’s whereabouts. Never did I ever think I would stumble upon an entire store dedicated to Pinocchio. He truly is a magical being. Don’t believe me? Well. Make sure you watch Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio post haste (streaming on Netflix). Afterwards, check out my review of the darling motion picture here.

Welcome to Cinematic Crypt: Hotel & Lounge, checking in? This week my assistant Hunter Bush and I began production preparations for our web series, Cinematic Crypt: Hotel & Lounge.

The area shown above is going to be our lounge where I will examine the film and share my findings. Visitors and/or Hunter will drop by for a spell to have a cinematic chat. I really am happy with how the set is shaping up… doesn’t it just give creepy cozy vibes? It makes me want to curl up and read a book. Which has given me an idea about a possible Cinematic Crypt book club.

Of corpse the books would be film related. I am thinking: biographies and novels that have been adapted into films. As I begin my preparations for the Cinematic Crypt Patreon, I thought this could be a fun way to connect with fellow cinephile bookworms. I could also host a chat live! from the Cinematic Crypt Hotel & Lounge. Would you drop by and check in for a stay? Comment below.

Stay tuned for more updates on the web series. Our hope is to air the pilot episode in October just in time for spooky season.

Here’s a double scoop of sweet stuff that I am proud of… I wrote two reviews for MovieJawn this week which, coincidentally, are both horror movies. If you are looking for something creepy and kooky to watch this weekend, I highly recommend checking out Longlegs and Oddity. Both are guaranteed to provide thrills and chills.

  • Find my review of Longlegs here

  • Find my review of Oddity here

Even if horror is not your bag, you should still check out my Longlegs review. I provide a brief history on BOUDOIR DOLLS that you don’t want to miss. This reader below was so excited about it he shared his astonishment with the world. Not gonna lie… this made my night.

This week I recommend checking out… my pal Suze’s artwork.

As mentioned above, last weekend Benjamin and I attended Suze’s art show in Honesdale. While there, we picked up some of her exquisite pieces:

I absolutely adore her monster portraits and can’t wait to hang them in our monster cafe. We are still putting the final touches on the cafe, but once it is completed, I will give the grand tour. As for the cakes… Suze makes these inedible delights that are going to be spooktacular props in the Cinematic Crypt Hotel & Lounge. Don’t they just look good enough to eat? Without a doubt, my pal Suze - who’s design company name is: Cakes Underwater - is super-duper talented. She is in process of working on a video advertisement for her prop designing business. Once she sends it my way, I will be sure to share it with you.

In the meantime enjoy the snippets above as a sample of her marvelous mind. Isn’t Audrey Three magnificent? Benjamin and I were ecstatic to welcome this beauty into our home. Hopefully we don’t run out of food…

Happy you are here. xx. goodbye.
